From Solar Developer to AI-Power Play

NUE owns the one thing the AI build-out cannot buy in a hurry: approved, connectable power.

Electricity has become the binding constraint on the entire AI economy — and the West is not keeping up. In 2025 China added 543 GW of generating capacity; the United States added 53. The four largest US technology companies are committing more than US$700bn of capital in a single year, yet over 2,000 GW sits in US grid queues waiting a median of more than five years to connect. A project that has cleared land, permitting and interconnection is a genuinely scarce asset — and buyers with billions to deploy cannot manufacture one. They have to buy it from someone who did the work.

That is precisely what NU E Power does. In eighteen months it has assembled 503.5 MW in Alberta, taken two of three projects through the regulator, put the whole package under offer to a Seoul-based investor managing over 2.5 GW, brought an operating solar farm online, and added a data-centre customer and an equipment joint venture. Total spend to get here: about US$2.6m.

Why it matters

  • Approved Alberta megawatts have sold, in cash, for C$136,000 to C$225,000 per MW. The market values NUE's at about C$24,300 — roughly the price of raw, unapproved land.
  • The Green Harbor letter of intent covers the 503.5 MW Alberta Energy Park at US$50,000–150,000 per MW — up to eight times NUE's entire C$12.3m market capitalisation.
  • Saskatchewan, Mongolia's Darkhan Energy Park and the Green Harbor equipment joint venture are carried at close to nothing in our numbers — pure optionality on top.
  • CEO Broderick Gunning is the largest shareholder at ~13.9% and bought more on-market in July 2026.

Reality Check (Risks)

The Green Harbor letter of intent remains non-binding, no interconnection agreement has been completed, and further — likely dilutive — financing will be required within twelve months. NUE is a thinly traded micro-cap; this is a high-risk, speculative position, and should be sized accordingly.
